A LITTLE ABOUT GEMA…
Gema is a Guatemalan filmmaker, who is most inclined to creating Spanglish stories, involving kids, animals and underrepresented members of our society. Being from Guatemala - a multicultural, non-homogeneous, nature rich country - deeply inspires her to explore themes around the intersection of human & nature, cultural identity, social inequalities and the environment; these are perspectives she carries across the projects she works on.
Gema has been working in different areas of production and post-production for over a decade, particularly as a producer and editor. As a producer, she has worked alongside the production teams of shows distributed by studios/streaming platforms like Netflix, NBC, FOX and ABC, including Emmy nominated/winning shows, such as World of Dance and Jesus Chirst Superstar; she has also produced festival award winning films. As an editor, Gema has cut music documentaries, narrative films, specials and other media content that have aired on networks such as Nickelodeon, CBS, PBS, Facebook Watch, DisneyXD and TCM UK.
She is currently based in NJ/NYC.
